PLN – Personal Learning Network

So often I see reference to various acronyms and rush over them in my haste to devour the information in the bulk of the text. I came across this one today –  PLN –  used by another teacher in reference those people that he consults and refers to when seeking answers to his learning journey. I immediately recognised the relevance to my current focus – personal learning journey – self directed PD. I have informally been creating a list of names that I consider my PLN, some I have actually communicated with, others it has been a one way exchange of information.  My knowledge and skills have come about from a mix of who I know as much as what I know.

I would DEARLY, DEARLY love to have a more personal interaction with like minded educators who are doing the things I want to do and can SHOW me as well as TELL me how to accomplish many of the tasks I am still struggling with. However I can be a frustrating student at the best of times so at least learning through my trial and error processes means I am not inflicting my angst on anyone else, least of all someone who is trying to help me. No good wishing for something that you can’t have…but I won’t give up trying!!!

That said, here is the list I am compiling of the sources of knowledge and skills relevant for this professional learning journey.

I would also like to thank some colleagues who have listened to my ramblings about this topic and are on their own learning journeys at various points. I teach this principle to my students…find someone who is doing what you want to do. Someone that you admire or recognise  is excellent in their area of expertise and learn all that you can learn from them. I would like to thank so many of my teaching colleagues for so much wisdom and general tips that it could go on for some pages. I hope you know who you are and how much your help was appreciated. If I can assist someone else at some time, please just ask…

So I went back in to edit this page and make the URL addresses into proper links to the various pages and found that my link button wouldn’t work….any suggestions?  I figured out how to link in my other blog and wanted to fix things up in this one only to find that it won’t allow me to. To echo the post title from my other blog today…ARGH!!! Frustration!
